How to Refer a Patient

How to Refer a Case to Vetcision

We understand how busy you are, and your need for a quick efficient referral process. With our knowledgeable referral coordinators there is no run-around or long wait for an appointment. You can expect timely emergency and specialty care for your patients. As always, you can speak directly with a doctor on the phone when you need one.

Please check the appropriate box on the referral form if you would like the doctor to call you after examining the patient and whether you would like digital images of any diagnostics or treatments. Having your email address makes this much easier to communicate. You can be assured that no personal email or phone numbers will ever be released to clients without your approval.

Specialty Referrals

  1. Either you or the client can call to set up a referral appointment with a specialist. If you don't know which specialist to schedule the appointment with, our referral coordinators can help you make that decision.
  2. We will ask for client and patient information over the phone to make the client's visit as efficient as possible.
  3. Fill out the referral form and fax, email or send the form with the client. Please also include any current radiographs or lab work. All film radiographs will be returned after we are done treating the patient.
  4. We understand your client's time is valuable and we strive to keep our appointments on time.

Emergency Referrals

  1. Please call as soon as possible to let us know you are sending an emergency patient. Give us a brief history by phone so we can be prepared for the emergency.
  2. We will ask for client and patient information over the phone to make the client's visit as efficient as possible.
  3. Fill out the referral form and fax, email or send the form as soon as you are able to. Please also include any current radiographs or lab work. All film radiographs will be returned after we are done treating the patient.
  4. The patient will be triaged as soon as they arrive at Vetcision. Occasionally there may be a wait while more critical patients are being treated, but we have built systems into our emergency department to make wait times as short as possible.
